Scientific Name Atopochilus mandevillei  Poll, 1959
Common Name
Type Locality Stanley Pool, Congo River, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Etymology Atopochilus: From the Greek atopos, meaning strange, and cheilos, meaning lip; in reference to the unusual oral morphology.

Identification A. mandevillei can be identified by the long maxillary barbels, strong and heavily serrated pectoral fin spines, and the coarse granulations on the head.
