Type Locality	New Calabar River, 30 kilometers northwest from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, 4°55'N, 6°52'E.

Etymology	Chrysichthys: From the Greek chrysos, meaning golden and ichthys, meaning fish; in reference to the golden-yellow color (of the type species, C. auratus).

Size	91mm or 3.6" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification	Several juvenile Chrysichthys are different species look similar to those pictured above, identification to species level is difficult to determine.
Habitat Information
Distribution	Africa: known from the type locality (Omuuehuechi-Aluu, New Calabar River, Rivers State, Nigeria). Also known from Ntem River in Cameroon. Log in to view data on a map.
