Scientific Name Chrysichthys aluuensis  Risch, 1985
Common Name
Type Locality New Calabar River, 30 kilometers northwest from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, 4°55'N, 6°52'E.

Etymology Chrysichthys: From the Greek chrysos, meaning golden and ichthys, meaning fish; in reference to the golden-yellow color (of the type species, C. auratus).

Identification Several juvenile Chrysichthys are different species look similar to those pictured above, identification to species level is difficult to determine.

Distribution Africa: known from the type locality (Omuuehuechi-Aluu, New Calabar River, Rivers State, Nigeria). Also known from Ntem River in Cameroon.
