|Etymology||Cory = helmet, doras = skin. In this case it was incorrectly used to mean armour (cuirasse) instead of skin in allusion to the dual rows of plates that run along the flanks of this genus.|
|Size||60mm (2.4") SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.|
|Identification||Corydoras are identified by their twin rows of armour plates along the flanks and by having fewer than 10 dorsal fin rays. They are most commonly confused with the other genera in the sub-family, namely Brochis, Scleromystax and Aspidoras.
This species is close to C. adolfoi and C. burgessi but can be visually distinguished easily by the darkened gill cover. Generally the dorsal fin also contains more black pigment.
|Sexing||Females are a bit larger and fuller bodied. This is especially evident when view from above.|
|Distribution||Upper Rio Negro, Brazil.

|Feeding||Standard Corydoras fare. Sinking pellets and bloodworms seem best.|

|Suggested Tankmates||Should be kept in a shoal. Can be kept with any community fish especially of this is a Amazonian blackwater biotope community.|
|Breeding||Has been bred under aquarium conditions.|
