Spotted Cory, Corydoras brevirostris Fraser-Brunner, 1947

Synonyms: Corydoras wotroi


Type Locality: Orinoco, Venezuela (aquarium specimen).


Size: 60mm SL


Identification: Corydoras are identified by their twin rows of armour plates along the flanks and by having fewer than 10 dorsal fin rays. They are most commonly confused with the other genera in the sub-family, namely Brochis, Scleromystax and Aspidoras. Differs from Corydoras melanistius by having patterning in the caudal fin. Was elevated out of subspecies status (then known as Corydoras melanistius brevirostris) in 2001.
