Synonyms: Chrysichthys cyclurus, Lophiobagrus lestradei


Type Locality: Lake Tanganyika, east Africa.


Size: 80mm SL


Identification:


General Remarks: Mucus is poisonous to other fishes.


Feeding: Feed on chironomid larvae, beetle larvae and small crustaceans with occasional ingestion of vegetable material.


Furniture: Likes to hide amongst rocks during the day, active nocturnally.

Breeding: Unreported. Care of the eggs and young is probably done by mouthbrooding solitary males.
