Scientific Name Hoplomyzon atrizona  Myers, 1942
Common Name
Type Locality Brook tributary to Río Zulia, at Estacion Tachira, 60 kilometers north of San Cristobal, Venezuela, elevation about 150 meters.
Synonym(s) Hoplomyzon atrizona petrolus
Etymology Hoplomyzon: From the Greek hoplos, meaning shield and myzon, meaning belly; in reference to the bony plates on the ventral surface.
