Type Locality São Gabriel Rapids, Rio Negro, Amazonas, Brazil.
Synonym(s) Hassar praelongus
Etymology Leptodoras: From the Greek leptos, meaning slender, and doras, meaning skin (also a word commonly used in forming generic names for doradids); in reference to the shape.
