Scientific Name Pterodoras rivasi  (Fernández-Yépez, 1950)
Common Name
Type Locality Río Apure, 2 kilometers east of San Fernando, Venezuela.
Synonym(s) Apuredoras rivasi, Pterodoras angeli, Sachsdoras apurensis
Etymology Pterodoras: From the Greek pteron, meaning fin, and doras, meaning skin (also a word commonly used in forming generic names for doradids); in reference to the forked caudal fin.
