Scientific Name Silurichthys hasseltii  Bleeker, 1858
Common Name Hassel's Leaf Catfish
Type Locality Tjisekat, Java, Indonesia.
Pronunciation Seel loo reek thees - has sell tee eye
Etymology From Silurus and the Greek ichthyos, meaning fish; in reference to the general resemblance to members of the genus Silurus. Named after JC van Hasselt, who first discovered and illustrated the fish.

Identification Distinguished by a shorter caudal fin, more mottled coloration, 2-4 gill rakers on first branchial arch and 46-56 anal-fin rays.
Sexing Males are smaller and possess serrations on posterior edge of pectoral spine.
