Scientific Name Bujurquina vittata  (Heckel, 1840)

Type Locality Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil.
Pronunciation vit hat ah
Etymology Bujurquina: A name created by Kullander, taken from a native Peruvian word for these cichlids, "bujurqui" or "bufurque". vittata means "decorated by ribbon", in reference to the striped body of the fish.
