Scientific Name	**Pelvicachromis pulcher** (Boulenger, 1901)
Common Names	Kribensis Palettciklid (Sweden), Purpurprachtbarsch, Koenigscichlide (Germany)
Type Locality	Junction of Ethiop River and Jamieson River, Niger Delta.
Etymology	pulcher literally means beautiful.
Species Information
Size	110mm or 4.3" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Sexing	Males larger and less colourful. Females more colourful and when mature have a noticeable belly full of eggs.
General Remarks	Often incorreectly called Pelviachromis kribensis.
Habitat Information
Distribution	Africa: Southern Nigeria. Also known from the coastal zone of Cameroon.

Husbandry Information
Feeding	Not at all fussy, will take all foods offered greedily. User data.
Furniture	Sufficient places to hide. The pair will find some kind of cave to spawn and look after fry in.
Compatibility	Generally ok with other fish. When breeding, they will defend their nest and brood, so enough space and hiding places for tankmates is required.
Suggested Tankmates	Smaller tetras or barbs make suitable companions.
Breeding	Cave spawning. Male and female looks after eggs and fry until the fry become independent and swim off. Aggressive and territorial towards other fishes especially its own kind during mating and after spawning.
