Type Locality	Shore of Tumapao River close to Duma village (Ganges River drainage), about 65 kilometers north-north east of Calcutta, West Bengal, India, 22°58'03''N, 88°49'49''E.
Etymology	Badis: Latin, badius = the colour of swift.

Habitat Information
Distribution	Asia: Ganges River drainage in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal, from Himachal Pradesh (Yamuna River) to the estuary; the Mahanadi River drainage; Assam lowlands close to Brahmaputra (Kaziranga, Gauhati, and Dibru River). Also reported from Bhutan and Pakistan.
