Size 33mm or 1.3" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification This species is similar in shape to C. reynoldsi and C. tukano (and less so C. weitzmani which is an altogether stockier fish) but is missing the dark blotch under the dorsal fin. It is similar in patterning to C. panda as it has a single dark blotch under the adipose fin but tends to have a grey as opposed to browner base colouration and has scattered pigmentation on the body giving a "dirty" overall look. More reliably C. ortegai is more elongate, possessing 24 upper and 21-22 lower lateral body plates compared with 22-23/20 in the squatter C. panda.
