Scientific Name Micralestes acutidens  (Peters, 1852)
Common Names Sharp-tooth Tetra
Silver Tetra, Spitzzahnsalmler (Germany)
Type Locality Zambezi River, Mozambique.
Etymology Micralestes: from the Greek, mikros = small + Greek, lestes = thief from the family name.

Distribution Africa: Nile, Niger, Chad, Congo, Zambezi, Limpopo, Omo, Ubanghi, Lake Kariba, Kafue, Benin, Rovuma, Transvaal, Cameroon, Lake Upemba, Lualaba, Uelé, Benue. Also known from the Cunene and Okavango systems. Also found in Lake Volta, Ghana and Lake Kariba.
