EtymologyRhinodoras: From the Greek rhinos, meaning nose, and doras, meaning skin (also a word commonly used in forming generic names for doradids); in reference to the unusual snout morphology. From original description: Named in honour of Francis Richard Gallagher, mailroom supervisor at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia from 1967 to 2003, for 37 years of dedicated service to the global community of taxonomists and systematists via the shipping and receiving of countless loans of biological specimens.
