Type Locality Brooklet in Marowini [Marowijne] basin, eastern side of Nassau Mountains, Suriname.

Etymology Chasmocranus: Greek, chanos, -eos, ous, and chasma, -atos = abyss, mouth opened, inmensity + Greek, kranion = skull.
