Common Name
Type Locality Cueva de Gedania, vereda Casas Blancas, 6 km South of town, near quebrada La Gran Curí, middle Suárez River drainage, Magdalena River system, 06°08'07.9"N, 73°35'50.4"W, elevation 1871 meters.

Etymology Trichomycterus: From the Greek trichos, meaning hair and mykter, meaning nose; in reference to the barbels.
