Re: Forum upgrade

It's going reasonably well. The whole forum was simply upgraded but now I have a large task of making all the rest of the site work with the new forum software...

Forum upgrade

All, Today (and probably for a couple of days more) I will be upgrading the site. This will take the forum of a forum upgrade, getting everything working again, fixing styles and look and feel and, finally, a few new features and layout for the front screen. I will post to this thread to keep you up...

Re: Request to add new species

OK, so Hypseleotris guentheri may be a synonym of H. leuciscus? Do you know any more about that? Maybe the bright orange (male) species is Hypseleotris leuciscus?

Re: Request to add new species

Once you figure out the structure to the seemingly chaotic approach to updating Wikipedia, it's quite an elegant model. But it's not the kind of thing that is easy to dip in and out of unless you're a recognized expert and content creator on the given subject. Believe it or not, there is a fair bit ...

Re: Request to add new species

They didn't show up in initial search results, but post a link Mark and I'll go have a look. ** time passes ** So, I found this on cichlidae.com and this 2013 description on zootaxa. So main things I don't understand is (a) where is the ICZN ruling on the unavailability (not invalidity) of Maylandia...

Mark, I've reviewed a few articles on the subject. It appears Maylandia has it! The undernoted link details it well for me and the more technical links in that article seem to be good. http://malawicichlids.com/mw01012.htm It appears that Condé, B., and J. Géry. 1999. Maylandia Meyer et Foerster, 19...

Re: Request to add new species

Hi Mark, It seems that the characteristics that are required to erect a new genus name were lacking with the Maylandia description, which of course, makes it impossible to define what species should belong to that genus. I have to admit I've not read up on this at all but the above statement doesn't...
