If you wish to record data about a species, it must first exist in our database!

If it doesn't exist, we will add it for you, as a minimum we need genus and species name. But if you wish other data, like family, common names, maximum size and so on, then please also include that.

Click on the username below to send a pm to the appropriate admin. Please put "Add species request" or similar in the subject line and the detail in the message body.

skh for Characidae
racoll for Cyprinids.
Michael.Koeck for Goodeids
tanganyika4291 for Tanganyikan Cichlidae
gmarschitz for Killifish
Jools for Catfishes (Siluriformes)
Anton for West African Cichlidae.

Anything not covered above, please just reply to this thread with the details.

Cheers,

Jools

Added these species. I then ran into some issues with the taxonomic data as several junior synonyms supplied. I need more time, or indeed, helpers, to work through these and add the associated species data.

Hi Gerhard,

Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos has been added.
Tropheops chilumba doesn't appear to be a described species, so I've added Tropheops sp. "CHILUMBA".
Labeotropheus trewavasae and it's two congeners have been added.
Maylandia estherae has been added.
Metriaclima mbenjii appears to be a junior synonym of Maylandia mbenjii so I've added it as such with the current name / new combination.
Labidochromis caeruleus has been added.
Protomelas boadzulu doesn't appear to be a described species, but a form of Protomelas taeniolatus; I've added that species.
Lethrinops marginatus has been added.
Pterophyllum scalare is already on the database.
Schrenk wrote:PS: there seems to be an overall lack in cichlid spezies of lake Malawi
Yes, that's very true, we don't have an expert on that group of fishes working with the database sadly.

I hope adding these new species allows to to record population data etc or whatever it was you were doing with the site.

Cheers,

Jools
