Common Name
Type Locality Aivapui River, in the vicinity of Phuldungsei Village, Mizoram, India, 23°28'29"N, 92°23'27"E.
Etymology Pethia is the generic vernacular name for small cyprinids in Sinhala. rutila: From the Latin adjective 'rutila', meaning reddish, in reference to the reddish coloration of this fish.
