Type Locality Cristiano Otoni, Rio Paraopeba, upper Rio São Francisco drainage, at old bridge ca. 100 meters west of highway BR-040, 20°49'11''S, 43°48'47''W, Minas Gerias, Brazil.
Etymology The specific epithet curvidens is derived from the Latin curvus, meaning curved, bent, and dens, meaning tooth, in allusion to the strongly curved tooth series in both the premaxilla and dentary
