1 characinfan since 1992-06-15 to 2017-05-22, that's 24 years, 11 months; who writes, "These fish are very long-lived! They also destroy all plants, including Java fern (eventually). They enjoy eating nuts, sliced red pepper, grapes, blueberries, lettuce, cucumber, sweet potato, mango, etc. They also eat red wigglers, but only if they see other fish eating them, too. They are aggressive with each other but do little damage other than nipping fins. They also leave other fish alone unless the other fish are in a desirable location and/or are eating something the headstander wants, in which case it will be chased and possibly have its fin nipped. Update: one of them died in December of 2014, aged 22. :("
