|Etymology||Heteropneustes: From the Greek heteros, meaning other and pneo, meaning to breathe; in reference to the ability of the fish to utilize atmospheric oxygen. This species is named after its type locality.|
|Size||270mm or 10.6" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.|
|Identification||Heteropneustes kemratensis can be differentiated from H.fossilis by having more anal rays.|
|Sexing||In dorsal or ventral view especially, females are much broader in the body than males of equal age and rearing practices.|
|Distribution||Southeastern Asia: Mekong, Chao and Tapi River basins.
