Type Locality Nethravati River, Dharmasthala, Karnataka, India, 12°57'57.52"N, 75°22'12.14"E, elevation 83 meters [Canara [now Madikeri], Karnataka State, southern India.
Synonym(s) Puntius assimilis
Etymology Dawkinsia are named for Richard Dawkins, for his contribution to the public understanding of science and, in particular, of evolutionary science.
