Type Locality	Cumuri Creek, at left bank of Oyapock R., upstream of first rapids of Grande Roche, French Guiana.
Pronunciation	kor ee doh rass (lineage eight subclade four). - conn dee SIP ewe luss
Etymology	Cory = helmet, doras = skin. In this case it was incorrectly used to mean armour (cuirasse) instead of skin in allusion to the dual rows of plates that run along the flanks of this genus. This specific epithet literally means schoolmate (condisciplus=schoolmate) and refers to its sympatric cohabitant, Corydoras oiapoquensis.
