Scientific Name Xiurenbagrus dorsalis    Xiu, Yang & Zheng, 2014
Common Name
Type Locality Guihong village, Gucheng Town, Fuchuan County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, 24°47'30.97"N, 111°19'50.62"E, elevation 190 meters.
Etymology The specific epithet dorsalis is Latin for dorsal, in reference to the unique position of dorsal-fin origin of this species when compared with it congeners.

Identification Xiurenbagrus differs from confamilials by having two patches of vomerine teeth, lack of deep grooves along shafts of dorsal- and pectoral-fin spines, relatively acute snout and short barbels.

From original description:The species can be distinguished from congeners in having a unique combination of features, including the absence of eyes, long barbels, dorsal-fin origin posterior to vertical line at tip of pectoral fins and an adipose fin confluent with caudal fin.Body pink, without any dark pigmentation; ventral areas lighter.
General Remarks The only known specimen was collected from an underground stream with substrate of small rock.The stream flowed across the bottom of a well.
