|Etymology||The species name honors George W. Gephart, Jr., President & CEO of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University from 2010 to 2017, for his "bold, deft and heartfelt leadership of a Glorious Enterprise into its third century".|
|Distribution||Known from the Amazon and Orinoco basins in the countries of Brazil, Guyana, Peru and Venezuela where it is commonly collected along sandy beaches in large black and clearwater tributaries.
