Common Name
Type Locality Río Ventuari, Raudales Tencua, 56 km east-southeast of San Juan de Manapiare, Amazonas, Venezuela, 5°2'59"N, 65°37'38"W.
Etymology The species name honors George W. Gephart, Jr., President & CEO of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University from 2010 to 2017, for his "bold, deft and heartfelt leadership of a Glorious Enterprise into its third century".

Distribution Known from the Amazon and Orinoco basins in the countries of Brazil, Guyana, Peru and Venezuela where it is commonly collected along sandy beaches in large black and clearwater tributaries.
