Type Locality Igarapé de Carauná, Amazon River basin, Est. Rpraía, Brazil, elevation 200 meters.

Pronunciation rhine lor ee kar ee ah.
Etymology Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather.
