Common Name
Type Locality Stream tributary of Rio Palmital, Baía de Babitonga system, near the centre of the town of Garuva, Garuva Municipality, Santa Catarina State, Brazil, 26°02'05"S, 48°51'28"W, elevation about 35 meters.
Etymology From the Greek chrysos (gold) and the Latin ornata (ornate), an allusion to the characteristic bright yellow marks on the flanks of this species.
