Etymology | Horabagrus: Named after SL Hora, the Indian ichthyologist, and bagrus, the name of a catfish genus frequently used to form generic names. The specific epithet obscurus (Latin) to describe both the dark, cloudy colour pattern of this species and also the confusion between H. obscurus and the similar-looking, sympatric H. nigricollaris. |
