| Identification | Typical shape for the genus, basic colouration is rusty reddish brown with medium to large black spots which to not reach to the tips of the unpaired fins. |
| General Remarks | DATZ 7/1994, pp 416-418. Aqualog shows Cochliodon plecostomoides from Venezuela and thus does not match DATZ. |
