Common Name
Type Locality	Small river off of the Río Chicherota, Río Bobonaza system, Province Pastaza, eastern Ecuador.
Synonym(s)	Hoplomyzon megistus
Etymology	Ernstichthys: Named after A Ernst, who established the chair of Natural History in the Universidade Central de Venezuela.
