Type Locality Barra do Bugres, stream crossing road between Barra do Bugres and Cáceres, about 15°20'S, 57°12'W, Mato Grosso State, Brazil.

Etymology Greek, ous, oto = ear + Latin, cinclus = latticework; in allusion to the holes of the head in the ears.
