Identification | Pseudancistrus is the only genus of the Ancistrini (former Ancistrinae) that lacks evertible cheek plates. Because of this characteristic, it has at times been placed in the Hypostominae. L056 is rarely exported, however, the L-number L056 is seen for sale and is incorrectly identified. In these cases, the fish being sold is Parancistrus aurantiacus. This stems from a misidentification in the Aqualog L-number book in the mid-1990s. |
