Scientific Name Pterosturisoma microps  (Eigenmann & Allen, 1942)
Common Name Long-tailed Sturisoma
Type Locality Iquitos, Peru.
Synonym(s) Harttia microps
Etymology From the Greek, pteron, meaning wing or fin and the German, sturio, meaning sturgeon and the Greek, soma = body. This specific epithet refers to its small(mikros=small) eyes(ops=eyes).

Sexing Males have a pentagon shaped pregenital scute, females it is more exaggerated into a star shape (i.e. has concave as opposed to straight perimeter).
