Etymology | The generic name is a combination of the greek, rhinos = nose, nostril and lekos = plate, in reference to presence of the lateronasal plate. Named after Julio C. Garavello, Universidade Federal de São Carlos, for his contributions to the study of Hypoptopomatinae catfishes and to Neotropical Ichthyology. |
