Common Name
Type Locality Rio Daraã, cachoeira do Aracu, 0°25'00"S, 64°46'59"W, Amazonas, Brazil.
Synonym(s) Hemiloricaria daraha
Pronunciation rhine lor ee kar ee ah.
Etymology Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather. The specific epithet daraha (Daraá in Portuguese) refers to the type locality.

Size 201mm or 7.9" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification Per the original description, Rineloricaria daraha is distinguished from all its congeners by having seven branched pectoral-fin rays (vs. six).
Sexing Males have patches of odontodes on side of head and thicker pectoral spines that are heavily covered with odontodes.
General Remarks Only known from cataracts of the rio Daraá (cachoeira do Aracu, Pacu and Panãpanã), a tributary to the rio Negro, in the state of Amazonas, northwestern Brazil.
