Scientific Name Andersonia leptura  Boulenger, 1900
Common Name
Type Locality Pond near Koshek, Sudan.
Synonym(s) Andersonia pellegrini, Slatinia mongallensis
Etymology Named in memory of the late Dr. John Anderson, who contributed much to the study of the zoology of the Nile region.

Size 50mm or 2" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification The genus is currently monotypic. The dorsal, pectoral and adipose fins each have a distinct spine anteriorly. A series of bony scutes cover the body posterior of the dorsal-fin origin.The lateral abdominal surface is not covered with superficial scutes.

Greyish above, dotted and marbled with blackish, white beneath, reddish abdomen, indistinct dark bars across the back.
General Remarks Found in standing water, along the margin of a lake, on a muddy substratum (Daget, 1959: 680).
