Scientific Name Apistogramma tucurui  Staeck, 2003
Common Name
Type Locality Brook, Rio Tocantins system, at highway 150, about 10 kilometers south of Jacunda, Para, Brazil.
Pronunciation ah-PISS-toe-grah-mah
Etymology The genus name is a combination of the Greek apisto, meaning 'meaning uncertain, inconstant, unstable, faithless', and gramme, meaning 'line', in reference to the variably-developed lateral line of these species.
