Distribution Central America: Pacific slope, in tributaries of Fonseca Gulf in Honduras and Nicaragua. Atlantic slope Río Chirripó (Río Matina) of Costa Rica to the Río San Juan and associated drainages of Nicaragua, including the Great Lakes.
