Type Locality Sebes-Körös River (Crişul Repede) at Bratca, tributary of Tisza River, Danube River basin, Romania, 46.9279°N, 22.5934°E.
Pronunciation Bar buss
Etymology Barbus = barbel, in reference to the barbels that fishes in this genus have. biharicus: Named for the Bihar Counties (there are counties with this name in both Romania and Hungary), where the species is almost exclusively distributed.
