Scientific Name Betta hendra  Schindler & Linke, 2013
Common Name
Type Locality About 3 km south-east of Palangkaraya in direction of Berengbengkel, 2°16.5'S, 113°56.6'E, Kalimantan Tengah, Borneo, Indonesia.
Etymology Betta: Siamese local name of the fish "ikan bettah".

Breeding Male builds a bubble nest under a leaf or piece of floating plastic (margarine tub lid or similar), then entices the female into lay eggs in the nest, and guards the eggs/fry until they are free swimming.
It is best to remove the female after the spawn, as the male may see her as a threat.
