Scientific Name Betta miniopinna  Tan & Tan, 1994
Common Name
Type Locality Swamp forest at Tanjong Bintan end near Pasir Segiling (1°10'N, 104°30'E), northern Pulau Bintan, Riau Islands, Indonesia.
Etymology Betta: Siamese local name of the fish "ikan bettah".

Breeding Male builds a bubble nest under a leaf or piece of floating plastic (margarine tub lid or similar), then entices the female into lay eggs in the nest, and guards the eggs/fry until they are free swimming.
It is best to remove the female after the spawn, as the male may see her as a threat.
