Scientific Name Desmopuntius pentazona    (Boulenger, 1894)
Common Name Five-banded Barb
Type Locality Baram River, Sarawak state, Borneo, East Malaysia.
Synonym(s) Barbus pentazona, Barbus pentazona pentazona, Capoeta pentazona, Puntius pentazona, Systomus pentazona

Size 88mm or 3.5" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification Differentiated from D. hexazona by a small partial band under the rear of the dorsal fin.
Sexing Typically, males have brighter colour, in particular a brighter red colouration.
General Remarks To misquote Star Wars, "These are not the barbs you are looking for". The species sold under this name commonly found in the aquarium trade are D. hexazona.
