Type Locality Ox-bow Lake next to Tami River, 23 kilometers southeast of Jayapura, Irian Jaya, Indonesia, about 2°42'S, 140°55'E.
Etymology Glossolepis: Greek, glossa = tongue + Greek, lepis = scale
