IdentificationHelicophagus have a short and a large premaxillary toothplate; the vomerine toothplate without additional toothplate; the front border of the snout is pierced by anterior nostrils; the posterior nostrils are between and in line with the anterior nostrils and the middle of eye; a narrow mouth (<35% HL); a slender anterior part of snout length (<16.5% HL) (Gustiano & Pouyaud, 2008, Indonesian Aquaculture Journal, 3(1), 13-22. http://dx.doi.org/10.15578/iaj.3.1.2008.13-22).
