Scientific Name Hemipsilichthys gobio  (Lütken, 1874)
Common Name
Type Locality Rio Parahyba, Brazil.
Synonym(s) Upsilodus victori, Xenomystus gobio
Etymology Greek, hemi = half + Greek, psilos = hairless + Greek, ichtys = fish.

Identification Dorsal series of lateral scutes on both sides not meeting along the middorsal line between the end of dorsal-fin base and the adipose fin; both tooth lobes approximately equal size; orbital diameter 12.0-14.7% HL.
