Scientific Name Hoplomyzon cardosoi  Carvalho, Reis & Friel, 2017
Common Name
Type Locality Caño La Raya tributary to Río Escalante, Hacienda San Jose, Colon, Zulia, Venezuela, approximately 08°50'N, 71°45'W.
Etymology Hoplomyzon: From the Greek hoplos, meaning shield and myzon, meaning belly; in reference to the bony plates on the ventral surface.
