Scientific Name Hyphessobrycon ecuadoriensis  Eigenmann & Henn, 1914
Common Name
Type Locality Los Ríos, forest pool near Vinces, western Ecuador (ca. 1°33'S, 79°44'W).
Pronunciation hi fess oh bry kon
Etymology Hyphessobrycon: hyphesson, -on, -on = a little smaller + Greek, bryko = to bite.

Size 31mm or 1.2" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification The name Hyphessobrycon ecuadoriensis is sometimes incorrectly applied to the Colombian tetra Hyphessobrycon colombianus. It is as of now fairly unclear if this fish as been exported for the hobby in recent years.
