Type LocalityRio Agua Fria, fazenda Praia Alta 2, estrada Araguaçu/Barreira do Piqui, 27 kilometers ao norte de Araguaçu, Araguaçu, Tocantins State, Brazil.
Type Locality NotesType locality inferred to latitude/longitude reported for Hyphessobrycon moniliger, collected by same individuals (Lima et al.) during same summer with an almost identical narrative of catch location (Fazenda Praia Alta 2, estrada Araguaçú/Barreira do Piqui, 27km ao norte de Araguaçú, poça atrás da sede).
